Hi Tidbitters,

Addressing today's title ... I believe we are here to experience.  We obviously experience a great deal through our own lives.  But we can and do expand our experiences. 

We expand our experiences with other people and getting involved with their lives.  We put ourselves in a position of experiencing different things from seeing life from their point of view.

We expand our experiences through movies and television.  The characters experience either things we have or have not experienced, and even if we have experienced something the character has, they react differently so, we experience it from their point of view.

We also naturally expand our experiences much the same way with reading books, if not more profoundly than with the movies and television.

Actors expand their experiences by stepping into a character and literally walking the path of their characters.

I play World of Warcraft and I play on the role playing realms, and I step into my characters as well.  It's profound what my characters experience, and it's amazing as each character is different what they attract in their *life experiences*.  Each character attracts different things.

I have one character I play as my ownself.  She has my beliefs, thoughts and reactions, and the people around this character are pretty much what I would expect from real life.  Then I have one character who is scared with paranoia, and angry.  It's amazing to see the two types of people she attracts.  Either they want to save her, but they can't, or they are the very people who scare or anger her.  Even if she goes somewhere and doesn't know them, she'll attract one of the two, even if she doesn't speak.  That astounds me.

To sum it all up, I do believe the world of fiction whether it be books, shows, or acting expands our experiences, and I think we can grow from those bonus experiences.  And then the non-fiction experiences of learning the stories of your loved ones and walking a bit on their path with them, expands our experiences as well.
